Job summary

Position Details: 12-Month Term Position Salary Range: starting at $71,000 (based on a 35-hour work week and commensurate with individual education and experience, as it relates to the position). Location: Remote or hybrid in any DUC office across Canada. Preference will be given to candidates in Atlantic Canada. Closing Deadline: Posting will be open until position is filled. What does our engineering team do? Our engineering team has delivered thousands of small dams across the country over the last 87 years. So much so that we now own over 6,000 water retaining structures responsible for the creation of over 1.2 million acres of wetland. This makes DUC the largest single dam owner in Canada in terms of sheer numbers. What will you do? DUC is looking for a confident, energetic and dedicated Senior Engineering Technologist to join our team. As a Senior Engineering Technologist, you will be responsible for drafting and surveying earthen dams & water control structure projects, working towards the retention of essential wetlands on the landscape. You will also support the engineering team with dam safety inspections and documentation – activities that appeal to you because you love a balance of office work and field work. You will have the opportunity to travel to remote field sites for inspections of small dams and water control structures as part of DUC’s dam safety mandate. Requirements * A Diploma in Civil, Environmental, or Municipal Engineering Technology. * Five years of directly related experience in civil engineering. * Currently have (or ability to obtain) a certified engineering technologist certification (or other provincial equivalent). * Proficiency with Civil 3D. * Experience with RTK GPS topographic survey equipment * Ability to read and understand engineering plans and specifications. * Strong planning, reporting, and project management skills * Practical knowledge of construction involving heavy equipment, construction of drainage infrastructure and/or earthworks (dams, embankments), and strong appreciation for construction site safety. * Ability to work long flexible hours, and travel as required. * Valid class 5 driver’s license. * Strong spoken and written English skills due to daily interactions with English speaking colleagues, partners, clients, contractors and/or suppliers. ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­What We Offer * 2 weeks’ vacation with paid personal and sick days * Comprehensive compensation & benefits package * Remote or hybrid work arrangement How to Apply Working for DUC is a career highlight for many staff.
