Throughout more than 150 years of dental education -- the oldest, largest and most comprehensive training program in Canada -- we have striven to graduate the highest quality of students while providing the public the highest standards of care.We are driving by our vision to improve health by advancing dentistry through inspired leadership, innovation, and excellence in education, research and practice.Your opportunity:Working closely with the clinical areas, you will be responsible for ensuring that the Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD) applies and adheres to the established guidelines and standards set by organizations such as RCDSO (Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario), CSA (Canadian Standards Association), PIDAC (Provincial Infections Diseases Advisory Committee), MDRAO (Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario), PHO (Public Health Ontario) and Health Canada. Instrument cleaning and inspection, restocking of kits and burrs, reprocessing, sterilizing, stocking, pickups, and deliveries of supplies, and other cleaning duties are the main tasks assigned to this role. Providing significant care and attention to limit potential impact beyond immediate work area. Ensuring compliance and providing safety training/instruction with potential impact beyond the immediate work area. Providing peer training and orientation and being educated from peers in certain circumstances. Other duties will be assigned based on the needs of the department and Faculty. Please note this is for an 8-month term position. Your responsibilities will include: Applying established standards when cleaning, sanitizing and/or sterilizing facilities Checking that assigned work completed meets expected standards Preparing, assembling and setting-up material, equipment and supplies according to the needs of the facility Analyzing service delivery and/or internal processes and recommending improvements Performing routine data entry Providing significantcare and attention to limit potential impact beyond immediate work area Ensuring compliance and providing safety training/instruction with potential impact beyond the immediate work area Providing safety training and ensuring compliance to occupational safety precautions Essential Qualifications: College Certificate in Medical Device Reprocessing that includes practicum or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum two years relevant experience in a Medical Device Reprocessing Department. Previous experience working with dental instruments required. Demonstrated experience using reprocessing equipment such as washer disinfectors, cart washers, ultrasonics, and steam sterilizers. Aptitude for working with delicate and complex instrumentation. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Good computer skills including MS Office and experience using patient or instrument tracking system. Ability to take direction, prioritize and multi-task, and be quick thinking. Attention to detail, and good judgment. Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, the ability to push/pull case carts filled with instruments, lift up to 25 pounds frequently, ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time, bend and reach frequently. Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team. Assets (Nonessential): Experience using AxiUm software.
