Job summary
Job Opportunity General Labourer (Casual) The Town of Bishop’s Falls is currently accepting applications for casual General Labourers. General Labourers, who are part of the Town’s casual call-in lists, work in the Public Works and Recreation Departments and are responsible for the following job duties: Maintaining the Town’s infrastructure. This involves, among other things, working on water, sewer, and road systems (i.e. water line breaks, sewer issues, and potholes). General Labourers do not operate heavy equipment. Performing traffic control duties. Cutting brush, cleaning ditches, and things of this nature. Working in the Pat O’Reilly Memorial Stadium. This involves providing security during events, cleaning facilities, operating the ice resurfacer (and other equipment), and ensuring user groups sign invoices. Working in the Recreation Department in general. This involves mowing grass throughout town, maintaining flowers, assisting with civic events, and cleaning facilities. A complete job description can be obtained by contacting the Town Office. To qualify for this job, you need the following: Driver’s licence (class 5). Traffic control certification (level 1) is considered an asset. It is important to note that General Labourers are casual employees; therefore, the Town does not guarantee a minimum number or any hours of employment. General Labourers are compensated in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Town and CUPE Local 1349. This competition is open until filled.
