Job Description

Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) Saskatoon and the University of Saskatchewan, Department of Emergency Medicine, are seeking physicians to provide Sexual Assault Response services. You will work with fellow SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) physicians and the SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) Coordinator to provide care to survivors of recent sexual assault, females postmenarchal and 13 years and older, males 16 years and older. The on-call physician responds to victims of sexual assault who present to an Emergency Department within Saskatoon or disclose assault while admitted to a hospital within Saskatoon. The physician on-call will provide a response within 15 minutes by phone and in person within 90 minutes of being notified by emergency or ward staff (as per Tier 2 call requirement).

As a member of the Sexual Assault Response services team you will provide assessment, investigation and medical treatment to victims of sexual assault; collecting forensic evidence when necessary and forwarding to the appropriate police department and referring to medical specialties as required. You will also attend court for sexual assault cases as required.

Training will be provided by the SANE Coordinator and SART Medical Director.

Job Qualifications

Successful candidates must be eligible for licensure in the province of Saskatchewan with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) and eligible to obtain and maintain membership on the SHA-Saskatoon Practitioner Staff.
