Job Description

The Regina Area has part time and causal positions for physicians with special training or competence in opioid addictions management/treatment to provide services at the Opioid Agonist Therapy Clinic/ formerly known as Harm Reduction Clinic.

The Opioid Agonist Therapy Clinic is situated in Central Regina and is part of the continuum of care that is offered by the SHA Regina Urban Mental Health and Addiction Service line. The focus of the clinic is to treat patients seeking treatment for an addiction to opioids. In addition to physicians, current members of the clinic include RPNs, Addiction Counsellors, Office Assistants, a Manager, and patients have access to the services of an Elder. The team is able to assist patients in connecting to other parts of mental health and addictions as well as other health services as required. The team also strives to provide care that recognizes the impact of colonization outlined in the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action for the Indigenous population of Saskatchewan noting that approximately 65% of the patient group self-identify as being of Indigenous ancestry.

The SHA is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents from the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. The University of Saskatchewan is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training and a number of distributed training sites in Regina and Saskatoon.

Job Qualifications

Successful applicants will be eligible for a regular license to practice in Saskatchewan from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS). The candidate will either already meet the physician requirements set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) to provide opioid agonist therapy or will be willing to undertake the process to meet these requirements. This individual must be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.

In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
