What we are looking for:

Reporting to the Specialist, Taxation & Accounting Operations, the Analyst will have a great opportunity to get involved in taxation early in his/her career.

Your responsibilities:

  • Creation and maintenance of investment fund taxation policies and procedures; ongoing monitoring of all fiscal controls related to the funds;
  • Oversight of the fund administrator’s monthly, quarterly and annual distribution calculations;
  • Monitoring the need for and coordination of special distributions (e.g. large unitholder subscriptions / redemptions);
  • Coordination and oversight of the funds’ HST/QST/PST filings;
  • Coordination and oversight of the funds various tax returns and filings (e.g. T3, T5008);
  • Coordination and oversight of the preparation of unitholder tax slips;
  • Coordination and oversight of various funds PFIC reporting;
  • Determination, coordination and oversight of certain foreign tax filings of the Fiera funds;
  • Completion of various foreign withholding tax documents on behalf of the Fiera funds (e.g. W8-BEN);
  • Monitoring the tax status of each of the funds and oversight of the various tax elections (e.g. mutual fund tax status);
  • Research and form a tax opinion of various fund investments (e.g. private placements) / coordinate with external tax advisors as required;
  • Manage the year-end tax review process with the funds’ auditor.

Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Pursuing a degree in business administration, economics, accounting, or other relevant fields;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel;
  • Interest in taxation;
  • Pursuing a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA or CMA) is an asset;
  • Curious & flexible;
  • Fluent in English, French would be considered an asset. network
