Now Hiring: Specialist, Structured Financial Services

Responsible for the administration of mortgage backed securities and other securitization instruments for assigned institutional clients while providing guidance and support to other team members.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administer Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) and Title Custodial services for multiple issuers and Investors in accordance with company policy and procedure

  • Point of contact for assigned clients and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation ("CMHC")

  • Interface with issuers, originators, central payor and transfer agent ("CPTA") and respective internal groups daily

  • Address client concerns and escalated issues as necessary and ensure a resolution in a timely manner

  • Generate and review reports for NHA MBS and submit to CPTA, CMHC and other parties as required

  • Review and transmit data to CMHC, mortgage insurers, CPTA through a third party system

  • Perform tasks related to mortgage title custody services, including data processing, documentation review, executing client requests for mortgage transfers, discharges, amendments etc...

  • Track and monitor maturing mortgages to ensure all activities are processed in accordance with the investors' policy and in a timely manner

  • With Manager, establish priorities and organization of the team's daily work

  • Assist other team members where necessary and monitor day-to-day operational tasks to completion

  • Provide training to new team members and identify and administer cross training needs

  • Assist with client onboarding to satisfy client specific documentation and deadline requirements as per individual agreements

  • Perform backup duties as required when the Manager is absent or unavailable

  • Work with the system provider for required testing, implementation of updates, identify opportunities for operational improvements

  • Comply with the set service/performance standards, internal controls, procedures and policies and regulatory requirements

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Skill Requirements and Key Competencies

  • College diploma or university degree, or equivalent experience

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar role, specifically experience with CMHC's NHA MBS Program

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, required

  • Experience with mHub application, an asset

  • Mortgage funding/administration/servicing experience, required

  • Understanding of MBS issuance process (including form submission), and working knowledge of the mortgage origination process, required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Able to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients with the proven ability to understand clients' needs and develop the appropriate solutions

  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

  • Thrives in a team environment as well as an effective independent worker

  • Poised, works well under pressure
