Program Overview
The Disability Services Department provides targeted programming that serves individuals with developmental disabilities and specializes in creating meaningful employment, pre-vocational training, and volunteer opportunities that develop work, life and social skills and support with integration into the community or participation into an established day program.

We are looking for someone who will:

  • Coordinate and be actively involved in startup of the (Riseability) as well as provide support to the program Manager by leading day to day operations ensuring service delivery schedules are in place, financial and statistical documentation is maintained in accordance with the established standards
  • Perform Community Participation Support Worker duties and support/coordinate service delivery team
  • Streamline all referrals to Disability Services programs, including referrals sent by the DSO through DSCIS, review referral reports to screen for eligibility/suitability
  • Support management with reviewing program vacancies and declarations to the DSO
  • Facilitate assessments of client strengths, abilities, and development and record statistics for quarterly reporting to manager
  • Develop and facilitate on-site workplace simulations
  • Meet with parents/caregiver quarterly review client participant progress in the program
  • Ensure quality assurance systems are in place and adhered to, including standards of practice, benchmarks and customer satisfaction
  • Analyze and evaluate program data, develop reports and make recommendations as required by funder and JVS Toronto
  • Visit five JVS Toronto employment services sites to provide support to clients with developmental disabilities.
  • Demonstrate the ability to carry out all safety requirements and emergency procedures for clients
  • Possess strong skills in assessing work and life environments, identify strategies to accommodate and maintain client success
  • Travel across GTA to represent JVS Toronto Disabilities programs at job fairs and other community events
  • Market and outreach; partner, liaise and collaborate with community organizations and funders to increase the profile of JVS Toronto Disability Services
  • Liaise with Disabilities programs staff to collect statistics, monitor program activities and provide program updates to staff and management
  • Lead and contribute to cross-JVS Toronto projects and initiatives and contribute to the strategic direction of the agency
  • Estimate and purchase program materials on a regular basis; coordinate insurance for all participants within developmental disability service programs
  • Handle client issues/concerns while on site in manager's absence

Flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required for this position.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counselling, or a related field
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working with persons with dual diagnosis
  • Knowledge of developmental disabilities
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of the DWC, PDP, or YCCS programs and operational requirements
  • Experience and advanced skills in utilizing DSCIS as well as an ability to lead and support the team in service plan activity monitoring and workshop scheduling
  • Proven expertise in providing support to disabilities services staff, leading teams and following programs guidelines in accordance with funder expectations and mandates
  • Good understanding of Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS)
