Function Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Heat & Power Plant, this role is responsible for:
  • Fires boilers and controls the generation of a continuous supply of steam for heating, hot water and for the operation of equipment in the laundry, sterilization area and kitchen.
  • All emergency calls during silent hours and is the Emergency Response Team Captain.

Required Qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma, with courses in shop mathematics and blueprint reading.
  • Certified as an Operating Engineer, 3rd class, in the Province of Ontario.
  • Two (2) years' experience in comparable work.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to use electronic and pneumatic test equipment and evidence of motor coordination and manual dexterity with tools and valve manipulation.
  • Ability to discriminate colors to detect signal lights indicating mal functions.
  • Fluent in French and English.
