There is a temporary opening for the above position within the Infrastructure Services Department, Operations Division. This position will be assisting with the Roads Maintenance Program. Reporting to the Roads Supervisor the following will apply:
Asphalt-related repairs and maintenance of roads
Concrete related repairs and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, and manholes
Performs construction duties relating to Water Restoration
landscaping repairs and restoration activities
Sign obstruction tree trimming
traffic control activities
leaf collection duties including hand raking and operation of single and tandem axle dump trucks
Road side debris collection
Street sweeping operations
Park trail Maintenance duties including operation of a chainsaw and hand pruners
Grade 12 OSSD Diploma or equivalent
One to two years of related experience
Valid G Drivers License (DZ License considered an asset)
Valid Criminal Record Check is required. (Proof of check required upon offer of employment)
First Aid, CPR and WHMIS training preferred
Knowledge of operating job-related equipment
Ability to deal effectively with the public
Ability to follow direction
Ability to meet the PDA Requirements of the position
The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, 40 hours per week.
This position is located within our CUPE 32 (outside workers) compensation schedule and the hourly rate of pay is as follows (2024 Rate):
Starting Rate: $24.65
Returning 2nd season rate: $25.39 (must meet criteria for returning employees)
Returning 2+ season rate: $26.15 (must meet criteria for returning employees)
