As a Contracts and Procurement Specialist your role is accountable for developing and implementing contracts and sourcing strategies that support our company's Rail& Marine terminal network. Leading sourcing initiatives, procuring assets and managing supplier contracts, relationships, and performance across a variety of business units are key responsibilities for this role.

Your responsibilities:

  • Strong understanding of contracts, including vendor drafted contracts, , general services agreements, scopes of work, and other agreements.
  • Develop and implement multi-year category sourcing strategies utilizing best practices.
  • Manage the strategic sourcing process, including RFx initiatives, proposal evaluations, negotiation strategies, contract negotiations, execution, and maintenance.Understand and align markets, strategies, priorities and plans.
  • Ability to judge complex situations, identify critical aspects of issues, creatively use data sources, structure complex analyses, think through solutions, develop recommendations and sell to stakeholders.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to monitor and resolve any issues with the Supplier delivering the defined scope of services or supply of goods.
  • Identify external and internal stakeholders and their requirements and engage appropriately in activities.
  • Facilitate internal Total Cost of Ownership reduction initiatives and identify savings opportunities.
  • Manage contracts and supplier relationships, including the development and implementation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement and increased value.
  • Implement supply management methodologies, processes, policies and procedures.
  • Understand legal concepts as they pertain to proposals, contracting and executing on existing contracts.
  • Assist with mentoring / learning / coaching with junior members of the team.

  • Identify issues, develop hypotheses, establish data frameworks, conduct analyses, draw conclusions and develop proposals.

Your Skills:

  • Ability to evaluate and mitigate commercial risks.

Your experience:

  • Post-secondary education in business, or equivalent experience.
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or other similar designation an asset.
  • 5-7 years of experience in within Contracts and Procurement roles.
  • Registered with SCMA or SCMP designation would be an assetFinancial acumen would be considered an asset.
  • Experience working in the oil and gas industry is an asset.
  • Minimal travel may be required for this role.
