Resource Specialist provides business and industry work placement opportunities for LEEP participants while providing administrative support to management as required. Directly reports to the LEEP Program Leader.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Remain current on Winnipeg labour market tends and the most effective search strategies, techniques, and monitoring of marketplace trends.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a variety of business and industry representatives to promote and ensure successful participant job placement.
  • Locate job openings for participants based on their individual skills and abilities.
  • Work with participants on an individual basis regarding their job search progress and activities (including resume preparation and employment status updates)
  • Set up work experience/employment interviews for the participants.
  • Ensure employers are reimbursed promptly.
  • Maintain polite and professional communication in person, via phone, email, and mail.
  • Organize files and program information.
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Complete reports and documentation on activities as required.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completed relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum one year prior related work experience.
  • Experience connecting with Manitoba businesses and organizations and knowledge of labour market demands.
  • Experience with job placement.
  • Knowledge of immigrant and refugee youth employment needs and issues
  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
  • Must have a valid Police Check/Child Abuse/Adult Check
  • Current Certification in First Aid/CPR

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Proficient in MS 365
  • Positive and encouraging attitude.
  • Supportive knowledge of the mission of The Salvation Army
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced work environment.
