The Day Camp Program Coordinator will plan and implement a summer day camp program for children ages 6-11 with assistance from the Assistant Program Coordinator. They will provide leadership and oversight of summer camp staff to ensure the smooth running of the camp and to ensure the camp runs within its budget, in consultation with the Community and Family Services Coordinator and Corps Officers. They will be a motivational, equipping, encouraging leader, monitoring quality control of the overall program and the staff's performance.

  • 35 hours per week
  • 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Mon-Fri
  • May 29 - August 16, 2024

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, plans, and implements a summer program for children ages 6-11
  • Works with the Assistant Program Coordinator to ensure necessary purchasing and gathering of donations
  • Leads advertising and promotion of the camp program
  • Interacts broadly with congregation members, community partners, and neighborhood families
  • Assists with staff training week
  • Organizes and assists with camp clean up at the end of each camp
  • Keeps record of daily attendance and screening of campers
  • Keeps detailed receipt log for grant reports
  • Keeps record of incident reports throughout the summer
  • Supports external reporting requests as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:

  • Must be a high school graduate with at least one year of post-secondary education (an alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable)
  • Clear and current Criminal Police Investigation Check (CPIC) and Child/Adult Abuse Registry Check
  • First Aid and CPR certificate or willingness to attain

Experience:

  • Prior experience planning programs and supervising children is required

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

  • Strong problem solving skills including the ability exercise good judgement
  • Excellent time management skills including the ability to effectively handle competing priorities and emerging demands
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and co-workers
  • Ability to treat information in a confidential manner
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
