Description

To provide front-line support to our guests and Community & Family Services team, ensuring smooth service delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate guest files and statistical records.
  • Assists with the distribution of food hampers.
  • Receives and inventories donations.
  • Helps ensure the hot meal program on Wednesdays and Fridays run smoothly

Administration:

  • Input data into Link2Feed; complete and submit all statistical reports promptly.
  • Maintain confidentiality and keep accurate participant files and statistical records.
  • Conduct all administrative duties as outlined with due diligence.
  • Track volunteer hours as per the TSA Volunteer Service Program and celebrate volunteer achievements as milestones are met.

Community & Family Services:

  • Meet with clients to assess their needs through intake processes using the Link2Feed client management system.
  • Distribute emergency food, clothing, and transportation vouchers per current operational policies.
  • Provide resource referrals to clients to address needs.
  • Organise and supervise receipt of food donations, recording, tidiness, and safety of all areas used.
  • Organise and help maintain the cleanliness of all areas used by Community and Family Services and other agencies.
  • Under the direction of the Corps Officer, assist with new and existing programs and service provisions.
  • Utilize the TSA Volunteer Services Program to recruit, train, schedule, evaluate, and thank volunteers.
  • Network with referral agencies and/or other community sources of assistance, as required.

Seasonal

  • Coordinate volunteers for all season programs and services.
  • Assist participants with registering for all seasonal programs and services.
  • Under the Executive Director's direction, assist with program coordination.
  • Distribute available items and donations to all participants who have registered for assistance through the 'Feeding the Lambs and Christmas programs.
  • May be required to assist with coordinating the Kettle Campaign, including, but not limited to, recruiting volunteers, setting up the kettle site, securing kettle donations, and counting and recording kettle donations.

HOURS: 37 Hours

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 7:00-3:00

Wednesday and Friday 7:30- 3:00

Temporary Full-Time 6 months (may be extended based on mutual agreement)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • High school diploma
  • Some post-secondary certifications are an asset (social work, psychology, etc.)
  • Food Safe certification is an asset

Experience:

  • 1-2 years working in public/customer service.
  • Some experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset.
  • Due to the nature of some of the work, a reasonable level of physical fitness and strength is required.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Strong computer and interpersonal skills are an asset.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team environment
  • Must be able to establish good working relationships with community partners
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills - self-motivated and disciplined self-starter
  • Ability and willingness to adhere to, support, and promote The Salvation Army's mission, vision, and values.
  • Class 5 driver's license
  • Able to lift to 40 lbs (food pick-ups)

Successful candidates, before hiring, may be required to provide the following:

  • Background check consent.
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening.
  • A clean driver's abstract.
  • FOODSAFE BC Level 1 preferred (training required during first two weeks of employment if successful candidate not already certified)
