Detailed Overview

Collects and distributes a variety of patient care items and equipment; unloads supplies and equipment and distributes to designated locations; tops up supplies in patient care areas; unloads tote bins; replaces supply containers; receives and unloads items and supplies from stores.


Responsibilities

  1. Collects and distributes a variety of patient care items and equipment requiring high level disinfection/sterilization (ie sterile trays,instruments) from assigned patient care areas.
  2. Orders, receives and unloads Medical Device Reprocessing supplies; unloads instruments from washer/disinfectors and distributes them to the appropriate prep and pack workstations.
  3. Fills requisitions by picking, assembling and delivering supplies/goods.
  4. Performs physical inventory counts; rotates stock and checks for expiry date; completes related forms and maintains records.
  5. Receives items and supplies from stores; unloads and stores in appropriate location.
  6. Transports stock and materials to all areas of the facility/site including patient bedside in assigned patient care areas.
  7. Keeps assigned area and goods/supplies in a clean and tidy condition.
  8. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience


Grade 10 with six months' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
