Associated Medical Transport Service (AMTS) is currently accepting expressions of interest for ACoP Registered EMR's and for Casual and up to 3 Full-time positions based out of Red Deer. This position reports directly to the Regional Support Supervisor. The successful candidate(s) will primarily be responsible for providing non-ambulance transport support and will participate in a New Hire Orientation before entering the field. This includes a mentorship component with experienced staff members which is valuable for our providers to better adapt to the environments we operate in.


Description:


  • AMTS staff attendants provide care and transportation for non-emergent patients during routine transport between medical facilities. They may be required to assist patients who are mobility challenged and require the use of walkers, wheelchairs or are stretcher bound. They complete and submit required documentation including patient care reports.


  • Emergency Medical Responders are responsible for the cleanliness of the transfer vans, equipment and ambulance bays. They also maintain the stock of supplies and equipment available in the transport units.


  • Our EMRs mainly transport admitted patients within the hospital setting to another healthcare facility for testing and or treatments. Sometimes the patients are returned to their place of origin or may be admitted at a different location within the Central Zone. The shift schedule is day shift Monday-Friday and does not work weekends or statutory holidays.


  • The AMTS employee plays an important role as members of the Associated Medical Transport Service inter-professional healthcare team. In the course of their work, they collaborate with other emergency medical personnel, physicians, nurses and other health professionals.


  • Our team at AMTS spends a lot of time standing, reaching, walking, crouching and bending during their shifts. They are required to lift and transport patients and equipment. At times, they may be in awkward positions while providing assessments and care to ill and injured people. They may be exposed to chemicals, bodily fluids, needle sticks, moving traffic, weather conditions, and other potential safety risks while on the job.




Required Qualifications:


EMR: Completion of an accredited Emergency Medical Responder and active registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP)


Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).


Must hold a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's license with an abstract indicating no serious traffic safety violations - 5 Year abstract will be requested


Must provide vulnerable sector check
