Academic Services is focused on supporting SAIT's schools and departments in their pursuit of SAIT's strategic priorities. The Opportunity

Reporting to the Business Math & Technology Literacy Academic Chair, you are responsible for ensuring SAIT students attain mathematical and computational competencies that are relevant to their disciplines, and future careers in addition to developing the ability to adapt to new emerging technologies with ease. As an instructor, you're also responsible to teach students to use technology to perform financial mathematical operations, and apply statistical knowledge to understand, prepare and analyze data to make sound descriptive statements and predictive insights.

The Role

    • Deliver engaging courses
    • Develop application-based learning materials and assessments tailored to students' areas of specialty
    • Prepare additional practical study to support learners as needed
    • Evaluate students' progress and provide timely, formative feedback
    • Provide ongoing academic support, guidance and advice to learners
    • Familiarize students with available SAIT supports and make referrals as needed
    • Support the Academic Chair in their future vision and initiatives
    • Participate in SAIT's instructor training program as required

Qualifications


    • The incumbent will be teaching math and/or computing courses to the schools of Business, Energy, Transportation, Manufacturing and Automation, Hospitality and Tourism, and Health and Public Safety. Qualifications and/or work experience in these areas are considered a strong asset.
    • Minimum of a Bachelor degree in IT, Engineering or Business Administration.
    • Minimum of 3 years' post-secondary teaching experience with additional industry experience in a relevant discipline.
    • Demonstrated experience in delivering application-based courses.
    • Demonstrated aptitude using and teaching technology courses such as Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, and Outlook).
    • MOS certification is a strong asset.
    • Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and Python coding is required.
    • Knowledge of AR, VR & MR is a strong asset.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-work skills
    • Excellent ability to manage time and prioritize responsibilities.
    • Ability to maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors would be considered an asset.
