The Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University is seeking a Research Assistant 2 to support the Fuel Demixing in Turbulent CH₄/H₂ Fuel Blends research project under the supervision of Professor Hendrik Nicolai. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing research focused on the simulation and analysis of turbulent combustion phenomena, including computational modeling, data processing, and interpretation of simulation results. This is a unionized position, and the incumbent will be a member of the AMURE (Association of McGill University Research Employees) bargaining unit. Responsibilities: Build and optimize computational meshes for numerical simulations. Set up and validate simulation boundary conditions. Perform simulations using high-performance computing resources. Develop and maintain post-processing scripts to support the analysis of computational simulation data. Analyze simulation results and investigate the physical phenomena associated with fuel mixing and combustion processes. Assist the Research Supervisor in conducting research activities using established methodologies with minimal supervision. Qualifications: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Proficiency in C++ and Python programming. Knowledge of turbulent flow physics. Proficiency in Computational Fluid Dynamics Experience with OpenFOAM software. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
