Schedule may change with two weeks’ notice Probationary/qualifying period will be 488 hours with mid and end point reviews Night premium will be given to staff that work 50% or more of their shift between 00:00-08:00 HoursSalary $33.49 - 35.31 depending upon applicants' length of seniority (as per the Collective Agreement) Job Summary The Tenant Support Worker (TSW) reports to the Site Manager and works in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Lookout Housing and Health Society, including following Lookout’s Code of Ethics. The TSW works with residents to provide assistance, support, education, and skills training. The TSW will work with tenants to maintain and develop greater independence and stability with the goal of a healthier and more independent living arrangement. This position requires successful completion of respirator fit testing, as Lookout is COR (Certificate of Recognition) certified and must comply with WorkSafeBC health and safety requirements. To ensure a proper respirator seal during fit testing and use, employees are required to be clean-shaven where the respirator seals against the face.Job Duties Will participate in tenant intakes, and provide support services and assessments Will identify challenges for tenants, develop service plans, crisis intervention, and administer finances and medication Ensure that basic needs are met by working closely with individuals on a long-term, ongoing basis Complete required paperwork and maintain statistical and evaluative data Assist with volunteers and practicum students on site Some external work is likely to occur; use of an automobile may, at times, be useful Employees are expected to remain alert and attentive during working hours. Sleeping during shifts is not permitted Responsible for complying with and contributing to all aspects of health and safety program Qualifications & Competence Diploma in Community Social Service Class 5 BC Drivers’ License (*Only if required) OFA 1 First Aid Certificate Food Safe Certificate (*Only if required) Recent related experience of two (2) year’s OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience OR other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the work. A minimum of two (2) years sobriety if having alcohol and/or drug problems. Criminal Record Clearance – Vulnerable Sector Skills and Abilities Knowledge/familiarity with related resources such as: Mental Health, Income Assistance, Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Practice, Addictions Support organizations, etc. Ability to carry out the duties of the position Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others Ability to operate related equipment Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Ability to organize and prioritize work Ability to observe and recognize changes in guests Ability to establish and maintain rapport with guests Home management skills Ability to instruct Suitability to work with disadvantaged and challenging adults in a diverse environment. Requirements
Candidates must hold a diploma in Community Social Service and have at least two years of related experience. Additional requirements include a Class 5 driver's license, First Aid certification, and a criminal record clearance.
