About

Lookout Housing and Health Society is a charitable organization and social safety net that provides housing and a range of support services to people in Metro Vancouver communities. We help adults with low or no income who have few, if any, housing or support options. Because the people we serve have challenges meeting basic needs and goals, we place minimal barriers between them and our services. Since 1971, we have offered a range of services and housing 24/7 to adult men and women who are destitute and require assistance. There are an estimated 5,230 individuals homeless in Metro Vancouver. We believe that helping people help themselves is essential in addressing homelessness and all the issues that surround it. Securing appropriate housing is the first and most essential step in achieving responsible independence for individuals. We house more than 2,300 people every night in shelters and residences and operate within 76 buildings across the Lower Mainland. With over 1,600 employees, we are among the province's largest non-profits and, unfortunately, continue to grow larger because of the increased demand for our services. We believe homelessness can be solved with everyone's help and the first step towards that goal is understanding homelessness.
