Job summary

Job Title: Casual Childcare Worker Department: Yagole Daycare Location: Cold Lake First Nations Reports To: Daycare Manager Type of Position: On-Call Level/Grade: Entry-Level Job Purpose: To provide one-on-one and group supervision of children at the daycare on an on-call basis, fostering trusting relationships while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in the implementation of daily activities and structured environments conducive to the children's growth and development. Aid in organizing recreational and social activities that promote social interaction and learning. Encourage participation and cooperation among children, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere. Foster an environment emphasizing care, growth, learning, and respect for all children. Ensure children receive intellectual, physical, and emotional stimulation through a variety of age-appropriate activities. Monitor safety concerns within the daycare environment and address them promptly to ensure the well-being of all children. Perform other tasks and duties as directed by the Daycare Manager to support the overall operation of the daycare. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Completion of at least Level 1 Early Childhood Development Training. Possession of valid CPR and First Aid Training Certificates. Submission of a Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check. Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (preferred). Familiarity with Cold Lake First Nation’s culture, government, languages, and community dynamics is an asset. Ability to adapt to new situations, conflicts, and crises with patience and professionalism. Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements: On-Call must be available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, based on daycare needs and staffing requirements. Evening and weekend work may be required to attend meetings, events, and community engagement sessions. Close interaction with children and parents as needed to address their needs and concerns. Engagement in outdoor activities with children, weather permitting. Physical requirements include standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs as needed.
