The Opportunity ** This posting is for a 12-month position ** AMA is looking for a Sustainability Initiatives Manager to help identify, develop, implement and champion sustainability programs across our organization. How You’ll Make an Impact Drive sustainability initiatives in alignment with AMA’s brand, budget and strategic direction, working in partnership with senior management and the Environmental Sustainability Steering Committee. Partner with operations, departments, employees and employee groups to identify new opportunities for sustainability programs. Coordinate and empower cross-functional teams to develop and execute plans to reduce AMA’s environmental footprint, tracking the impact and execution of initiatives across the organization. Build momentum by educating stakeholders on sustainability efforts in collaboration with the Green Squad, employee communications, public relations and other enterprise teams. Serve as environmental sustainability lead for annual impact reporting, working with Corporate Communications, Marketing and Creative Agency teams on implementation. Monitor global, government and regulatory news, trends and best practices to stay current on the evolving sustainability landscape and standards. Support identification and tracking of key sustainability metrics and benchmarks, making recommendations to monitor progress and reputation. Manage program budgets and external consultants or vendors as needed. Develop business cases for sustainability programs and build compelling, effective presentations for diverse audiences. Collaborate with colleagues across the CAA and AAA Federations to support and advance sustainability programs. Assume responsibility for tracking and reporting emissions, waste and energy utilization, and ensure AMA’s regulated entities meet required reporting and compliance obligations. Work closely with Communications and Human Resources teams to tell AMA’s sustainability story as part of the employer brand, and in recruitment, retention and onboarding. Plan and coordinate meeting content for the Green Squad and the Environmental Sustainability Sub-Committee. What You Bring to the Table Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of experience with environmental and sustainability programs, including materiality assessments, goals, targets and KPIs, implementation roadmaps, and corporate sustainability strategies. Expertise in carbon emissions inventories, green electricity options, carbon capture and offsets, green transportation, electric vehicles, logistics and/or other technologies tied to the green economy. Experience advising on the reporting and disclosure of sustainability and/or climate risk and performance in annual or sustainability reports. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver sustainability and environmental awareness training for senior and executive management and/or board of directors. Proven experience coaching, counselling and guiding clients and staff across all levels of an organization. Experience in insurance, financial services or other regulated industries is considered an asset. Exceptional communication, relationship-building and project management skills, with the ability to present to diverse audiences including executives, board members and strategic partners.
