Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT Employment Type: Full Time Relief Schedule, Fixed Term Role type: New position Location: Scarborough, ON Department: Emergency, Intensive Care Unit Compensation: $25.00 per hour Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital is a state-of-the-art veterinary emergency and referral hospital that delivers expert care and treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are welcoming for casual/part time RVTs to join our ER/ICU team on a temporary basis to provide coverage for a leave of absence. Skills you can learn and master include: The placement of various IV catheters, various urinary catheters, nasogastric tubes, nasal oxygen cannulas; the care and maintenance of patients with NG & E-tubes, closed suction drains, chest tubes, urinary catheters and wound diffusion catheters. Set up, maintenance and adjustment of various IV fluid plans and pain CRI’s along with multiple medication administration. Hone in on your patient care with treatments of in-hospital patients including blocked cats, gastroenteritis, foreign bodies, fractures, lacerations, GDV, parvo and various autoimmune diseases. Help stabilize and perform anesthesia with our amazing team of specialists for various surgical and wound procedures and surgeries as well as manage them post-operatively. Above all, be a part of a team that puts each other first along with the care of patients as we implement the best practice veterinary medicine in the GTA. Schedule This temporary position provides coverage for a leave of absence. The role follows a rotating schedule of two 12-hour night shifts, one day off, two additional 12-hour night shifts, and four days off, including weekends and holidays.
