Job Description Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! Working in Recreation means being apart of something special, gaining valuable work experience and learning new skills. We are looking for dedicated individuals who enjoy working with others with a passion to deliver high quality programs, events, and services. The Successful Candidate Will Be responsible for the planning and program delivery of private, semi-private and group pickleball lessons, in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment. Assist the Recreation Programmer with planning, directing, and overseeing day-to-day operations of club lessons, leagues, clinics and programs, and court bookings. Provide quality customer service to participants, parents/guardians, and the general public. Respond to program feedback, enquiries, and requests promptly. Communicate and document any concerns to the Recreation Programmer (health and safety, attendance, participants, equipment, inventory, facility spaces). Respond to emergency situations including performing minor first aid and/or arranging for medical assistance. Provides a leadership role for other coaches and instructors, including support for lesson plans and coaching strategies. Minimum 5 years experience teaching in a club environment, working with all ages and levels of play. Ability to run lessons, programs, clinics and leagues. Minimum 4.0 DUPR playing level. Demonstrated ability to work well with children, youth, and adults. An energetic and positive attitude with the ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, participants, parents/guardians of participants and staff. Strong leadership and customer service skills to interact with a diverse population of patrons, the general public, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and independently with minimal supervision. Excellent ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively, tactfully and courteously with all levels of staff, the general public and program participants. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple conflicting demands in a professional manner. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Due to the nature of the contacts of this position, a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required. Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification required. Current High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development and High Five Sport certifications required. Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification or Safe Management certification an asset. Please Note: Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification. Disclaimer: Candidates whose Standard First Aid certification expires after June 22, 2026 must renew their certification through a WSIB-approved provider and obtain the new Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C certification at candidates own cost.

Requirements
