Job summary

Total Group of Companies is currently looking for Safety Advisors local to Ottawa and the near vicinity. Position Overview Safety Advisors support field crews, contractors, and client representatives by helping maintain safe work practices, identifying hazards, supporting site safety requirements, and promoting a positive safety culture. Work may take place in industrial, construction, restoration, turnaround, or remote project environments. Responsibilities may include: Supporting site personnel with daily safety expectations and safe work practices Completing site safety observations, inspections, and hazard assessments Assisting with orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings Monitoring work activities for compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements Supporting incident, near-miss, and hazard reporting processes Reviewing documentation such as FLHAs, permits, JHAs, and safety paperwork Communicating professionally with workers, supervisors, and client representatives Promoting a positive, proactive, and solutions-focused safety culture Qualifications To be considered for future casual Safety Advisor opportunities, candidates must hold one or more of the following designations or equivalent experience: NCSO CSO HSO HSE designation or equivalent safety background Additional Requirements Previous experience in a Safety Advisor, HSE, CSO, HSO, or similar field safety role Comfortable with travel and staying in remote locations when required Able to work independently and communicate clearly with crews, supervisors, and clients Strong attention to detail, documentation, and site safety processes Positive, professional, and team-focused attitude Valid driver’s license preferred Completion of an Occupational Health and Safety certificate, diploma, or related safety program is considered an asset CRST or CRSP designation is considered a strong asset Additional industry-related safety training, tickets, or professional designations are considered assets, including First Aid, H2S Alive, CSTS, Confined Space, Fall Protection, and WHMIS Work Type Casual / project-based Local candidates to Ottawa preferred Shift length, schedule, and project duration may vary depending on client needs Why Join Our Talent Pool?
