Job summary

Location: Firehall 10, University of British Columbia (UBC) Duration: Aug. 4 to 29 (Aug 4 training day and equipment setup) Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturday: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (1 hr. lunch break and 15-minute breaks throughout the day) Transportation: Must provide own transportation to and from the job site Job Overview: We are seeking General Labourers to assist with fire hose testing at Firehall 10, UBC. This temporary position involves working outdoors in a team environment to perform hose testing in accordance with NFPA standards. Key Responsibilities: * Unloading, laying out, and organizing fire hoses in the parking lot * Visually inspecting fire hose jackets and couplings for defects * Connecting hoses to testing manifolds and fire hydrants * Pressurizing hoses to required PSI levels for testing (as per NFPA 1962) * Monitoring and recording test durations and pressure readings * Identifying leaks, failures, or damage and tagging out defective hoses * Draining, drying, and re-rolling hoses after successful testing * Cleaning and reloading hoses into storage or trucks * Keeping the work area organized and safe throughout the day * Following all safety protocols and working under supervisor direction * Physically fit and able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly * Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions * Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the full project duration * CSA-approved steel-toe boots required * Firefighter training an asset * Previous labour or fire equipment handling experience is an asset, but not required
