Job Description: Position Purpose summary: The Christmas Kettle Assistant helps to organize, direct, and supervise the work performed by Christmas Kettle Campaign Worker activities. Accountabilities: Assist with promoting, coordinating and overseeing the activities of Christmas Kettle Campaign Worker volunteers. Assist with overseeing the operations of the Christmas Kettle campaign including scheduling of volunteers. Assist with the orientation and performance management of kettle worker volunteers. Assist the Christmas Kettle Coordinator with scheduling kettle volunteers including filling gaps and cancellations and responding to emergency absences. Provide support to kettle volunteers navigating the new online volunteer management program. Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites. Coordinate and assist with the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations. Host at a kettle as required ensuring necessary coverage for breaks, etc. Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies. Assist with transferring the kettle contents into the deposit bags for processing. Complete shift reminder phone calls and/or voice mail messages for volunteers. Assist with answering phones, booking food bank appointments using Link2Feed software, and responding to inquiries regarding the Christmas assistance program. Perform other related duties as required. WORKING CONDITIONS: This is a temporary full-time position based on 37.5 hours per week. Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements. Ability to lift/move up to 20 lbs. (11.34 kgs) in a safe manner. Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification. Local travel (up to 20%) is associated with this position. Use of personal vehicle will be required. The above responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Army’s Mission, Vision, and Values, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct. Education, Qualifications and Certifications: Completed High School or equivalent. Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements: Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset. Experience in office administration. Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL). Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, provide an original copy of current driver’s abstract for review and verification that it satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. Knowledge of Salesforce software is an asset. Skills and Capabilities: Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability. Demonstrated ability to work independently and participate as an active and responsible team member in a cooperative team environment. Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills. Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Honest, courteous, and punctual; prepared to act in the best interest of employer. Represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner. Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution. Attentive listening skills for the purpose of supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution. Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening. Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $21.84 with a maximum of $26.20. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
