The BC SPCA was established over 125 years ago and we continue to grow stronger every year. We are a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to protecting vulnerable animals and mobilizing communities so animals and people thrive together in British Columbia. Today, we provide a wide range of services and programs to help more than 45,000 animals in distress and in need each year. The BC SPCA was created under the auspices of the provincial Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and is the only animal welfare organization in B.C. which has the authority to enforce laws relating to animal cruelty and to prepare cases for Crown Counsel for the prosecution of individuals who inflict suffering on animals.

The Animal Care Specialist provides primary care for shelter animals, including feeding, cleaning, and health monitoring while adhering to the Five Freedoms. They also assume a leadership role in designated areas, overseeing staff and volunteers to ensure efficient daily operations and high standards of animal welfare.

The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for mid-level accounting tasks including financial reporting, complex journal entries, and account analysis. They also support the finance team with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes, as well as annual budgeting and audit preparation.
