Job details

Duties & Responsibilities Registers patients for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency visits, quickly and accurately with the utmost in customer service. Pre-registers patients for inpatient and outpatient visits. Collects accommodation and insurance information and payment for services where applicable. Responds to inquiries made by patients and visitors. Responds to telephone inquiries and forwards calls where appropriate. Liaises with patients, other department staff, and external customers. Assists with other tasks as required in Admitting and other registration areas. Qualifications Minimum accurate typing speed of 40wpm required. Previous data entry experience required. Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize duties, problem solve and accurately carry out detailed work in a fast paced environment. Demonstrated ability to interact with others in a co-operative, facilitative and professional manner through all circumstances. Must have an excellent punctuality and attendance record. Knowledge of medical terminology. Previous experience in a hospital Admitting or registration department would be an asset. Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of St. Michael's Hospital. Hours Casual, all shifts as required.
