APPOINTMENT TERMS This temporary, remote position lasts one quarter (three months) per development cycle. Successful candidates will collaborate with team members during business hours to meet milestones. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Compensation for this role will be a one-time lump-sum payment of $1,500. If SME also develops course syllabus, they will receive an additional $500 bringing total compensation to $2,000. JOB SUMMARY: The Subject Matter Expert (SME) is a remote, contract position responsible for collaborating with the Instructional Design team to develop an engaging, outcomes-driven online course within a three-month development cycle. The SME provides expert knowledge in the course subject area and contributes to the design of authentic, engaging content aligned with course outcomes and objectives. This role includes evaluating Instructional Design AI-generated content to enhance creativity and streamline development. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Review and apply all onboarding information provided by Instructional Design and the Program Chair. * Collaborate with the Instructional Designer and Program Chair to finalize a course roadmap and unit-level objectives. * Provide or refine course content, including assignments, discussion prompts, assessments, and multimedia suggestions, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes. * Review and finalize content iteratively using designated collaboration tools. * Incorporate AI-generated draft materials, reviewing and adapting them to ensure relevance and appropriateness. * Ensure all course content meets quality assurance standards, including ADA compliance. * Engage in regular communication and meetings with the course design team, addressing feedback and meeting design deadlines. * Review the completed Blackboard course build using the provided checklists. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES: * Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited program * Strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines in a collaborative, remote environment. * Proficiency with web-based communication and project management tools. * Attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: * Experience developing online courses at the graduate level. * Familiarity with Blackboard Ultra or similar learning management systems. * Understanding of or experience using AI tools in content creation. * Online teaching experience in Counselor Education.
