We operate a small-scale R&D laboratory using high-pressure systems to explore and optimize these processes. We are hiring a Junior Laboratory Technician to support our team. This position is designed for individuals early in their technical career who are interested in gaining hands-on experience with specialized laboratory and high-pressure equipment in a supervised environment. Key Responsibilities · Assist in the operation of bench-scale high-pressure equipment for supercritical fluid processes · Assist with troubleshooting equipment and process issues · Assist with maintenance, adjustments, and minor modifications of lab equipment · Perform end-of-run cleanup, waste handling, and lab organization · Prepare and analyze experimental samples · Maintain clear and accurate experimental records and documentation · Update and maintain standard operating procedures and safety documentation Education and Experience · Background in laboratory work through education, research, and/or employment · No prior experience with high-pressure process equipment is required but would be an advantage · Completion of a laboratory technician/technologist or related program is considered an asset Candidates with non-traditional or diverse career pathways who have the required aptitude and interest are welcome to apply. Skills · Willingness and ability to learn operation of high-pressure equipment in a supervised setting · Willingness and ability to learn operation of analytical instrumentation · Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment and experimental processes · Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures · Commitment to safe laboratory practices · Ability to learn quickly and apply training · Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate experimental records and ensure a clean, organized workspace · Proficiency with spreadsheets and word processing software for documentation and reporting What You Will Learn · Safe operation of a high-pressure supercritical fluid extraction system · Hands-on experimental design and execution in an R&D environment · Sample preparation, processing, and documentation workflows · Practical troubleshooting of laboratory and experimental equipment Additional Information This is a hands-on experimental role in a startup environment.
