ABOUT THE ROLE The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a temporary full-time Project Engineer with the Capital Project Delivery team for a three-year term. The Project Engineer is responsible for managing capital projects within the Regional District of Nanaimo, including the planning, design, and construction of capital infrastructure projects. This position will liaise with administrative and operational staff, other government agencies, architects, contractors, consultants, private utility companies, and the public. Current and upcoming projects include major infrastructure initiatives related to recreation, wastewater, and solid waste services. QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications include a degree in Engineering, a Professional Engineer designation from Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) as a P.Eng., plus five to seven years of related experience in the design, construction and project management of water/wastewater or industrial projects. Experience in an operating facility as well as experience in a local government setting are considered assets. Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence is required. SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong project management skills and a fundamental understanding of project phases and processes. Proven skills in personnel supervision, leadership, team building, and problem-solving are essential for the position. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, develop, and implement projects in a systematic, timely manner. POSITION DETAILS This is a temporary full-time exempt position for a three-year term, with the possibility of ending early or extension based on the operational needs of the department. The position offers 35 hours per week with a salary range of $121,985 to $139,981, plus a competitive benefits package.
