Summer Camp Counsellor

The Summer Camp Counsellor creates a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children participating in RED Mountain Resort's Summer Adventure Camp. Counsellors lead outdoor activities that encourage confidence, teamwork, and a love of the outdoors while ensuring the safety and well-being of every camper. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Supervise campers at all times and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment. * Lead and assist with daily camp activities, including hiking, nature exploration, outdoor games, crafts, team-building activities, chairlift rides, and environmental education. * Adapt activities to meet the age, ability, and needs of campers. * Follow all RED Mountain Resort safety policies, emergency procedures, and risk management protocols. * Conduct head counts, manage group transitions, and ensure safe loading and unloading during chairlift rides. * Communicate professionally with parents, campers, and fellow staff. * Complete attendance, incident reports, and other required documentation. * Assist with the setup, care, and storage of camp equipment and supplies. * Represent RED Mountain Resort with professionalism and enthusiasm. QUALIFICATIONS * Experience working with children is preferred. * Current Standard First Aid & CPR certification preferred. * Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening. * Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills. * Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and terrain. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Ability to hike on uneven terrain and participate in active outdoor programming. * Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. * Comfortable spending the full day outdoors in varying weather conditions.

The counsellor is responsible for supervising children and leading a variety of outdoor activities to ensure a safe and engaging camp experience. They must manage group transitions, maintain safety protocols, and communicate professionally with parents and staff.

Candidates should have experience working with children and possess Standard First Aid and CPR certifications. A Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and the ability to work physically in outdoor terrain are required.
