The positions may be subject to renewal in April 2027 via a competitive process based on the organization's operational needs and financial situation. Classification: Band 3 Salary: $63,588 - $74,779 /Year (Hourly rate starting at $ 30.57/hour) Number of Positions: 2 Language Requirements:  English BBB / French BBB (reading, writing, oral) (A: beginner, B: intermediate, C: advanced) Affiliation:  P.S.A.C. **Location: On-site, National Gallery of Canada, 380, Sussex Drive, Ottawa, ON ---------------------------------------- Job Summary Under the direct supervision of the National Gallery of Canada’s Duty Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring and operating centralized Fire, HVAC, CCTV, and Security systems in a dedicated Security Operations Centre (SOC). You will initiate and coordinate appropriate emergency response, and control all security communications, including multiple radio channels, Email, MS Teams, intercoms, and telephones. While not on duty in the SOC, you will conduct patrols of on and off-site storage locations, initiate investigations, inspections, write incident reports, and provide emergency response while not posted in the SOC. You will also be involved with security functions during various Special Events and VIP functions. The National Gallery uses a hybrid security force with a core in-house Protection Services team and a separate contract guard force. We are a client-facing institution, and you will be actively interacting with the public to resolve and de-escalate potential issues. Licences/Certifications * Current Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C. * Valid driver’s license & driving record in good standing (proof will be required on the hiring date). Work experience * At least 12 months of experience as a security professional or in a relevant field (law enforcement, military, 911, emergency operations centre) * Experience working in a Security Operations Centre or in an investigative role would be an asset. * Experience in customer service, de-escalation protocols, and dealing with difficult situations.
