Canadian Islamic College (CIC) is seeking a qualified Sessional Instructor to teach IJC 304 – Political Science in the Winter 2027 semester as part of our Honours BA in Islamic Studies program. Location: Mississauga, ON Position: Sessional Contract Language of Instruction: English Course Overview IJC 304 introduces students to the foundational concepts and debates in political science, including: * Power and governance * Political ideologies and theory * Political institutions and state structures * Comparative politics * Civil society and social movements * Democracy and policy-making The course emphasizes critical analysis of political systems, institutions, and ideas in both Canadian and global contexts. Responsibilities * Deliver undergraduate lectures and seminars * Develop and update course syllabus and assessments * Facilitate class discussion and student engagement * Evaluate assignments, examinations, and presentations * Provide academic mentorship and feedback to students * Support student engagement and learning outcomes Qualifications * PhD (preferred) in Political Science ora related field. What you’ll do
The instructor will deliver undergraduate lectures and seminars for the Political Science course, including developing the syllabus and assessments. They are also responsible for evaluating student work and providing academic mentorship.
Requirements
A PhD in Political Science or a related field is preferred, though a master's degree will be considered. Candidates must have at least 3 years of university-level teaching experience.
