This position assists with finding housing for individuals and families recently evicted or at risk of eviction. Client services include liaising with landlords, including social housing, support in acquiring ID, accessing income supports such as EIA, and finding rental housing. The Community Outreach Worker provides short-term ongoing support to promote successful tenancies and individual well-being. Position Summary Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Community Outreach Worker is, in accordance with professional practice standards, responsible for the following: * Arrange and support rental unit viewings, landlord interviews, and lease negotiations. * Provide tenant support including education on rights and responsibilities, home visits, and connection to local community resources. * Identify, build, and maintain ongoing relationships with local landlords. Qualifications Education Valid Drivers’ license and access to a reliable vehicle Service Delivery Skills, Expertise and Experience Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in community, preferably with program's target population Experience providing outreach with hard to hard-to-reach populations Critical Skills Proven knowledge and ability in relationship-building, critical thinking, facilitation, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills Focus on Results Demonstrated ability to prioritize and focus work-related activities to effectively and efficiently achieve service goals and produce expected results/outcomes Alignment with Organizational Values Commitment to the principles that guide Mount Carmel Clinic, as reflected in the history, vision, mission and values Indigenous Understanding Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions and the impact of colonization on the health and well-being of Indigenous individuals and families Interdisciplinary Team, Collaboration Proven ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment with respect, professionalism, cooperation, sensitivity and cultural awareness MCC Philosophies Strong knowledge, commitment and demonstrated ability to apply diversity, equity, cultural safety, pro-choice, social determinants of health, population health, harm reduction, trauma-informed and community development principles in all aspects of the work Communication Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in the use of computer systems Assets Post-secondary education in a Social Services field All positions are subject to Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry checks.
