Who We Are The Mikisew Cree First Nation (Mikisew) has lived on the ancestral lands of the Athabasca Delta and Wood Buffalo National Park in northeastern Alberta since time immemorial. The lives of our members are linked to the land and to a close understanding of traditions, history and a natural way of life. Many of our members live in the hamlet of Fort Chipewyan, and our traditional lands range over a large portion of Athabasca oil sands deposits. Who You Are Mikisew is currently seeking a dedicated Journeyman Carpenter. This Position is accountable for the planning, direction, and activities related to the Mikisew Cree First Nation housing initiatives and commercial construction, municipal operations, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, major and minor capital improvements. This position is located in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. This position is based in Fort Chipewyan, AB Roles & Responsibilities Ensure all building code and safety standards are met Bid and tender contracts for MCFN in carpentry related areas Provide monthly progress reports Attend staff and management meetings Assist staff in developing project budgets and schedules and follow-up Provide guidance and instructions to apprentices on site Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience in residential housing building and renovations Certified Journeyman in Carpentry Valid Alberta Class 5 driver license, or provincial equivalent All applications will be reviewed, although only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
