Job summary

MDSearch is recruiting General Practitioners with Enhanced Surgical Skills (ESS) or Obstetrical Surgical Skills (OSS) to join Inuvik Regional Hospital, the sole hospital serving the Beaufort-Delta region. This role supports essential surgical, obstetrical, and emergency services for a broad rural catchment area. Cesarean section capability is required, and endoscopy skills are highly valued as they support the continued functionality of the operating room. Scope of Practice: Front-line surgical and operative obstetrical skills are foundational to maintaining a high-quality obstetrical program and supporting Emergency Department services. Your scope may include: Cesarean sections Endoscopy Open and/or laparoscopic procedures Procedures within general surgery, urology, orthopedics, plastics, and gynecology The ESS/OSS physician serves as the local gateway to surgical specialties. Procedures are well supported by the local OR team, with opportunities to scrub in with visiting surgical specialists from Yellowknife. Compensation: Hourly rate (no fee for service), along with on-call remuneration. Requirements: CCFP with ESS or OSS training C-section capability (required) Eligible for licensure in the Northwest Territories Benefits: Travel and accommodations fully covered (meals not included) Travel stipend up to $2,000 for locums travelling to Inuvik (based on travel time) Locum blocks are typically 1–2 weeks, with longer assignments available Why the Northwest Territories?
