About the Role: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Financial Analyst to join our team on a temporary, 3-month contract basis. In this role, you will support the day-to-day finance operations at L Squared, including accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and month-end activities. You will work closely with the Finance team to maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, track budgets and expenses, and support ongoing financial and accounting processes. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their finance career who is eager to build hands-on experience, strengthen their analytical skills, and gain exposure to a variety of finance functions within a growing organization Responsibilities Accounting & Day-to-Day Finance Support Accounts Payable (AP) activities, including reviewing and processing invoices, coding expenses, maintaining vendor records, and following up on approvals. Support Accounts Receivable (AR) activities, including customer invoicing, payment tracking, account reconciliations, and monitoring outstanding balances. Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations and ensure transactions are accurately recorded in QuickBooks. Support month-end activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and preparation of supporting schedules. Maintain organized financial records, receipts, invoices, and supporting documentation. Budgeting, Reporting & Financial Analysis Assist with the preparation and maintenance of budgets, forecasts, cash flow reports, and P&L reporting. Track actual financial results against budget and assist with identifying and explaining variances. Prepare and update recurring financial reports and dashboards for the Finance team and leadership. Assist with tracking key SaaS and business metrics, including MRR, ARR, churn, burn rate, COGS, and gross profit. Perform basic financial and data analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas requiring further review. Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required. Revenue & Expense Support Maintain subscription and renewal trackers to support recurring revenue reporting and upcoming renewal timelines. Assist with revenue and expense reconciliations and investigate discrepancies as required. Support commission calculations and maintain accurate supporting documentation. Assist with reviewing customer contracts, pricing, and renewal information to ensure financial records are accurate. Support revenue recognition, COGS, and gross profit reporting. Audit, Compliance & Process Support Assist with internal finance audits, including vendor expenses, receipts, revenue, and gross profit reviews. Maintain supporting documentation for audit and compliance requirements. Support the documentation and improvement of finance processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Assist with GST/HST calculations, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Identify opportunities to improve or streamline recurring finance processes. Assist with other finance, accounting, and operational duties as assigned. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, finance operations, or a related role. Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field. Working knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, budgeting, and financial reporting. Experience with QuickBooks Online or a similar accounting system is an asset. Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills, including comfort working with formulas, spreadsheets, and financial data. Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, or variance analysis is considered an asset. Familiarity with SaaS metrics such as MRR, ARR, churn, CAC, and burn rate is an asset, but not required. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in financial information. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Good written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities. Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and supporting a variety of finance-related initiatives.
