Job summary
Vocational Specialist - Temporary Full Time Based in Fort McMurray, AB the Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist will be responsible for working with clients to assess skills, organize and facilitate training, identify training and/or employment opportunities, and assist clients with their job search activities. A successful candidate will have experience developing career plans, be knowledgeable in working with vulnerable populations, be comfortable facilitating and instructing in a group-learning setting, be familiar with the Alberta labour market, and have the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. Duties/Responsibilities: * Providing career and employment counseling to Albertans returning to employment * Facilitating essential skills, employment preparation, and occupational skills workshops * Conducting assessments to determine employment history, education and experience, and transferrable skills and employment barriers * Completing resumes, cover letters, and mock interviews * Conducting labour market research * Ensuring sustainability in job placement; providing direct support to participants and employers to maintain employment * Assessing and addressing individual needs, barriers, and complexities and developing and managing service plans * Connecting participants with appropriate community resources, available through the Government of Alberta, Federal Government Services, and local agencies and service providers * Timely report writing, following current templates, guides, standards, and processes * Record keeping and maintaining paper and electronic files Minimum Qualifications: * University Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Social Sciences or related field including Kinesiology, Community Rehabilitation, Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, Social Work, Education, etc. * The designation, working towards designation or willingness/eligibility to obtain any of the following: Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CCRC), Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE), or Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP), alongside membership the Vocational Rehabilitation Association in Canada considered highly advantageous. * Career and employment counseling and job development/placement required. * Proficiency in French is considered an asset * An excellent understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity * Candidates should have a strong understanding of the Alberta labour market and educational programming opportunities * Case management experience an asset * Sensitivity to learning limitations that may be present with participants * Intermediate to advanced computer skills * Knowledgeable with social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, as well as key job search sites including Glassdoor, Indeed, CareerBuilder for job searching and applications * Outstanding teamwork and interpersonal skills * Security background check required * May be required to work evenings and/or weekends Inclusion We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people from all backgrounds can thrive.
