Job summary

About the role Under the supervision of the Program Manager, or designate, the Caseworker shall provide mediation and diversion services, crime prevention, and Restorative Justice community-education. What you'll do Caseworker duties include the following responsibilities: Register participants seeking Fine Option Program or who have been referred by probations or an alternative measure program for Community Service Hours. Monitor online registration and connect with registrants with suitable work placements. Assist with the solicitation of new work placements and community partnerships. Monitor placement agencies to assure their suitability for the program, and client satisfaction. Complete reporting and documentation as required by program and funder. Travel as required. Perform other related duties as needed. Other Requirements This role involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and occasional driving throughout the workday. Candidates must be able to move safely between work areas and perform routine office tasks efficiently. The position also requires the ability to regularly push and pull filing drawers and retrieve, organize, and store paper files and documents. Successful candidates will possess the physical mobility and stamina to safely perform these duties while maintaining an organized and productive work environment. Knowledge, Skills and Assets: Working knowledge of the Mission, Vision and Values of the John Howard Society of Saskatchewan. Working knowledge of the characteristics of disadvantaged persons. Working knowledge of Restorative Justice and Harm Reduction practices. Understanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action. Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills. Exceptional writing and case management skills. Strong verbal skills and the ability to communicate professionally. Resourceful, flexible, and well organized. Professional, responsive, and a positive work attitude. Ability to make sound, timely, and accurate judgment while navigating crisis. Ability to work independently. Must maintain a positive relationship with clients, other staff, businesses, and government agencies. Demonstrate empathy for those impacted by the Criminal Justice System. Qualifications Education: Secondary education from Saskatchewan Polytechnic or Community Colleges or University Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or minimum 1 year of practical experience working with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues including homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare Practical Experience: Working knowledge and experience with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues, including: homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare system. Working with a range of diverse clients, indiscriminate of: age, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, socio-economic status, religious preference, etc. Other: First Aid/CPR, ASIST, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Food Safe would be considered an asset. Valid / Insurable Saskatchewan Driver’s License, insurable to drive clients in JHSS-owned vehicles. Cleared Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check, completed three (3) months prior to start date.
