About the role
Position : Strong Backend Lead (Strong Edge/ CDN experience, Java, Spring boot) : Only Canada Location : Toronto & Vancouver Canada (Onsite) Type of Job : Contract : 12 Months Experience : 10+ Years
Area Expectation Experience 10+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale, production-grade distributed systems.
Data Platforms Hands-on experience building and optimizing machine learning inference pipelines, including data normalization, feature stores, and model serving integrations.
AI-Assisted Development Proficiency with AI-powered developer tools such as GitHub Copilot, LLM-based workflows, and agentic coding assistants to improve engineering productivity.
Greenfield Development Proven ability to build products and platforms from the ground up (0 to 1), thrive in ambiguous environments, and rapidly iterate on evolving requirements.
Architecture Strong system design and architecture skills with the ability to own technical decisions, collaborate across teams, and translate business objectives into scalable technical solutions.
Backend Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot, with hands-on experience designing RESTful APIs, building microservices, and developing event-driven architectures.
Cloud Extensive experience with AWS services, including compute, storage, networking, IAM, and cloud-native application development.
Edge/CDN Experience developing and deploying applications in edge computing and CDN environments, including edge workers, CDN functions, Lambda@Edge, or equivalent technologies.
Programming Languages Advanced proficiency in Java and/or Python, with the ability to work effectively in JavaScript/TypeScript-based runtime environments.
Nice to Have • Identity, trust, or security domain experience (JWT/JWS, PKI, OAuth 2.0, bot detection, token verification) • Python proficiency for data engineering or scripting • Databricks or similar AI/data platform experience • Experience with observability at scale (distributed tracing, structured logging, dashboards) • Prior work on multi-party integration layers or network/platform services • Open-source contributions or community involvement
