About the Project We are part of the new project Hazel McCallion LRT in Mississauga, ON, with a specific focus on supplying the custom canopies, shelters and glazing for all the stations. This critical aspect of the project aims to enhance passenger comfort and safety. We are seeking a Project Coordinator with 1-3 years of experience to join our team and oversee the installation and quality control of these structures.
Job Description The Project Coordinator will be responsible for managing the installation of canopies and shelters across multiple transit stations. This role involves site supervision, installation coordination, quality control, and sub-contractor management, ensuring that all activities meet the project specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities Site Visits : Conduct regular inspections at each station site to monitor the progress of the work. Ensure that all site activities comply with design specifications and project requirements. Identify potential issues early and collaborate with the project team to implement corrective measures.
Installation Coordination : Coordinate the installation of canopies and shelters, ensuring alignment with project schedules and milestones. Work closely with the project manager to ensure that installations are executed accurately and efficiently. Oversee the installation, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and quality standards.
Quality Control : Conduct detailed inspections and tests to verify the quality and durability of materials and workmanship. Document and report any discrepancies or non-conformities and facilitate timely resolutions with the project team and contractors. Manages the different submittals required.
Commissioning : Collaborate with the RUS Project Manager to develop and validate testing procedures specific to the scope of work (SOW) for canopies and shelters. Provide support during testing conducted by other subcontractors (mechanical and electrical) when their activities may impact our equipment or installations. Ensure that no deficiencies are passed on to our installations as a result of other subcontractors' work or testing. Review and ensure proper documentation for all tests, including reports, certificates, and as-built drawings. Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the testing phase and coordinate corrective actions with the appropriate teams. Assist in final handover, ensuring all systems are operational, and provide sign-off for successful commissioning of the equipment and installations.
Sub-Contractor Management : Engage with our sub-contractors specializing in canopy and shelter installation, ensuring clear communication of project expectations and timelines. Monitor sub-contractor performance, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations, safety standards, and quality requirements. Resolve any on-site issues or disputes, maintaining a smooth workflow and preventing delays.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.Technical degree with more experience can be considered. 1-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably with a focus on structural installations such as canopies and shelters. In-depth knowledge of construction processes, structural materials, and safety regulations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
