Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Mississauga, ON Work Model: Hybrid (Minimum 3 days onsite per week) Employment Type: Contract About the Role We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an innovative engineering team focused on developing high-quality mechanical products and systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on product design, testing, validation, and continuous improvement while collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and validate mechanical components and assemblies for new and existing products. Create and maintain engineering drawings, test plans, and technical documentation. Execute mechanical testing and analyze results to identify performance improvements. Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for product-related issues. Support product enhancements, engineering changes, and manufacturing readiness. Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to deliver robust solutions. Ensure designs comply with engineering standards, quality requirements, and manufacturing best practices. Contribute ideas that improve engineering processes, product quality, and team efficiency. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. 2+ years of experience in mechanical product design. Hands-on experience with Creo (Pro/ENGINEER) and Windchill; SolidWorks experience is an asset. Experience designing CNC machined, sheet metal, die-cast, and injection-molded plastic components. Strong understanding of mechanical testing, documentation, and troubleshooting. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with electro-mechanical or opto-mechanical product development. Knowledge of GD&T, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA). Experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, and manufacturing processes. Exposure to precision mechanical assemblies and vision systems. Experience collaborating with manufacturing partners and supporting production environments.
