Position: Quality Control Inspector Location: Kincardine (Bruce Power site) Duration: 6 Months initial contract Department: Quality Control Reports To: Site QA Manager
Introduction Brunel is currently seeking a Quality Control Inspector to support one of our clients in the nuclear industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with company quality policies, programs, and practices in accordance with applicable codes and standards across fabrication and construction projects. This role is well suited to a detail-oriented quality professional with strong inspection experience in construction, fabrication, pressure vessels, piping, and structural components.
Responsibilities Prepare Inspection and Test Plans for fabrication and installation of nuclear class and conventional pressure vessels, piping, and structural components. Review and determine applicable quality standards and procedures for component inspection. Inspect work to confirm conformance with construction specifications, welding requirements, quality program requirements, and applicable codes. Document inspection results in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner. Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders for construction trades. Perform receiving, in-process, final, dimensional, and visual inspections on piping, pressure vessels, and structural components constructed to ASME, CSA, or CWB codes. Monitor trade compliance with quality assurance requirements, applicable standards, inspection and test plans, and procedures. Maintain M&TE calibration records and verify fabrication dimensions and code vessel calibration using appropriate inspection tools. Support the development of welding test procedures for vessels, piping, and structural components, while helping expedite solutions to fabrication and testing issues. Prepare and review history files and code data reports, including pressure vessel, piping, and partial data reports. Interface with TSSA and customer representatives as required. Participate in and support internal and external audits, including TSSA certification and customer audits.
Requirements Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Quality, Welding, Engineering, or C.E.T. designation. Strong knowledge of inspection techniques and quality control practices. In-depth knowledge of applicable QA/QC codes and standards. More than five years of QA field experience in a construction and/or nuclear environment. Fully conversant with ASME BPVC Section I, II, III, V, VIII and IX, B31.1, and B31.3. CWB or CGSB NDE certifications would be considered an asset. Knowledge of and experience with CSA N299, CSA N285.0, CSA N286-12, ASME NQA-1, and ISO 9001. Experience developing and implementing Inspection and Test Plans or inspection checklists to various codes. Background in inspection and construction operations is required. Quality and nuclear safety minded, with strong attention to detail and a meticulous approach to work. Well organized, self-motivated, responsive, and results oriented. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
