Senior Cost Specialist Duration: 1 year contract Location: Calgary, AB Schedule: Monday to Friday Target start date: 13th July 2026 Target end date: 12th July 2027 Position Overview This opportunity is suited to an experienced project cost control professional supporting construction and project delivery activities within a technically demanding environment. The role focuses on cost tracking, reporting, forecasting, and the provision of accurate financial insight to support project decision-making. This position requires strong analytical capability, a disciplined approach to data quality, and the ability to work effectively across project and business teams. The role would suit a candidate who can identify cost trends, support financial control, and contribute to strong project performance outcomes. Role Context This opportunity sits within a construction and project environment and will support project delivery through robust cost control and reporting activities. Relevant background in construction-related projects is essential, and experience within oil and gas, infrastructure, or other large-scale capital project environments would be advantageous. Exposure to project closeout and financial reconciliation activities would also be beneficial. Key Responsibilities Prepare and maintain accurate, complete, and timely project cost reports. Provide cost control guidance and support to project management teams. Review documentation to confirm correct cost coding and allocation. Support change management activities through the preparation of trends and change orders. Analyse and forecast project costs, highlighting risks and potential impacts. Consolidate and interpret data from multiple sources to support cost analysis and reporting. Maintain structured cost information to support efficient project closeout reporting. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams on cost-related matters. Qualifications & Experience Intermediate to senior-level experience in project cost control or project controls. Construction or construction-related project experience is required. Strong understanding of cost reporting, cost coding, and forecasting processes. Experience supporting change management processes, including trends and change orders. Proficiency with relevant industry systems, including PIMS, Qbyte, OnBase, Maximo, or similar tools. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and consolidate complex data sets. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across project and business teams. High attention to detail and commitment to reporting accuracy.
