The salary range for this position is:

  • Recruitment range: $69,052 - $76,129 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
  • Performance range: $89,791 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.

Job Summary

Mandate:

The Annual Giving, Calling Program Coordinator collaborates with the Annual Giving team, as well as other members of the Alumni and Development team, to execute and manage a student calling program as part of the university’s effort to increase annual participation and philanthropic support from alumni, friends, and other constituents. This position is instrumental in the on-going planning and delivery of fundraising programs and services designed to facilitate a lifelong relationship with UVic donors, alumni and students.

Alumni & Development is the unit of the university responsible for creating strong relationships and building philanthropic commitment between the University of Victoria and its alumni and friends. It comprises a committed staff team who work both centrally and in faculties and units to identify opportunities where faculty, staff, donors, and alumni can be instrumental to enhancing UVic’s programs, research, and student support.

Annual Giving collaborates with faculties and units to deliver fundraising programs and communications to encourage philanthropy and engagement amongst faculty, staff, friends, and 130,000+ alumni. It also engages with UVic students to encourage a lifelong, philanthropic relationship between them and their university. Annual Giving promotes programs and initiatives that support our current and future students, programs and research.

The role of the Calling Program Coordinator is to manage, plan, and lead the calling programs fundraising efforts.

Objectives:

Working with their colleagues, the Calling Program Coordinator creates a yearly plan to execute and manage a telemarketing program. The Calling Program Coordinator hires, onboards, trains, coaches, and mentors 25-35 student caller staff. The Calling Program Coordinator develops the strategy for renewing, upgrading, and acquiring new donors through the telemarketing campaign by deciding on data segmentation and calling pools, developing calling scripts, and creating communication pieces to encourage pledge fulfillment. The Calling Program Coordinator also manages the calling software, including loading data, exporting data, and editing data files within the software, as well as routinely reaching out to the vendor to troubleshoot software issues.

The Calling Program Coordinator regularly consults with the Advancement Services team, specifically the Data team and the Gift Services team to ensure data is accurate and provided in the correct format.

Job Requirements

This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of relevant experience in telemarking, sales, or fundraising. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Ability to identify and analyze issues, develop solutions, and implement effective strategies to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Demonstrated experience pulling and analyzing data from a CRM system, such as Raiser’s Edge.

  • Ability to apply project management best practices to achieve project goals on time.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel.

  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff or volunteers.

  • High level of professionalism and tact for communication with donors, alumni, and external partners.

Assets:

  • Experience using RNL Engage or CAMPUSCALL.
  • Experience using Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge CRM.
  • Experience managing a call centre.
  • Understanding of fundraising practices and principles.
