We are currently looking for a ME Maintenance Support Student to join our busy and growing manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be engaged in elevating the department and company to the next level. The incumbent will be forward looking and thrive in a culture of continuous improvement.

The Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student will perform various administrative functions for the Product Development and Engineering department and work on related projects as assigned.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Reporting directly to the Facilities & EHS Supervisor, the ME Maintenance Support Student will perform various administrative functions for the Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations department(s) and work on maintenance-related projects as assigned.
Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Provide manufacturing engineering team support to meet production department requirements, to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems to minimize down time
- Evaluate/review machinery problems as well as conduct root cause analysis on equipment failure(s)
- Work on various Lean initiatives
- Perform preventative maintenance procedures both on production and facility (building repairs) support equipment, including external service contractors
- Maintain all necessary records to support PM Program
- Accountable for the successful completion of maintenance projects
- Develop, evaluate, improve, and document maintenance processes
- Assist contractors with repairs or overhauls with new equipment installations as required
- Control and monitor maintenance department inventory
- All other duties or projects as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong Computer Skills (Auto-CAD, Outlook, Word, Excel), experience with ERP systems an asset
- Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills, presentation skills are considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail in design and problem resolution preferred
- Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven and high intensity environment
- Must be aware of all safety standards and requirements for maintenance work
- Ability to work with CMMS; conduct and complete planned maintenance tasks, able to complete work orders, and able to generate work orders
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and schematics considered an asset
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- College or University degree 2nd year or greater (BA or Business Degree) in manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering program
- Some experience in manufacturing engineering, including design of assembly jigs and fixtures and workflow layouts considered an asset
