About the role

Role Overview

PTAG is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support high-voltage Transmission & Substation (T&S) capital projects.

This role requires a highly effective leader with deep utility experience who can manage complex projects while driving alignment across stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, and delivering executive-level reporting.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of experience in HV transmission and substation projects, with a strong ability to lead in regulated utility environments and interface directly with senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

Lead end-to-end delivery of HV transmission (115kV+) and substation projects from initiation through close-out Define and manage scope, WBS, cost baselines, and integrated schedules Drive execution across engineering, construction, procurement, and commissioning teams Manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, matrixed environment

Stakeholder & Communication Management

Act as primary interface across project stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies Lead project reporting, executive presentations, and status updates Coordinate across internal teams, field teams, and external partners Proactively manage risks, issues, and escalations

Communication & Reporting Excellence

Develop and deliver high-quality executive presentations and dashboards Ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy in project reporting (cost, schedule, risk) Translate technical project data into clear, decision-ready insights

Project Controls & Performance Management

Monitor and control performance using EVM metrics (SPI, CPI) Partner closely with Project Controls to ensure cost and schedule alignment Drive forecasting, variance analysis, and corrective actions

Construction & Utility Execution

Oversee activities such as: Transmission line builds, reconductoring, and upgrades Substation construction, expansions, and energization Ensure construction readiness, commissioning planning, and safe execution Support initiatives tied to grid reliability, wildfire mitigation, and system upgrades Governance & Compliance

Ensure adherence to utility, regulatory, and safety standards Maintain compliance with permitting, environmental, and interconnection requirements Drive accountability across all project stakeholders

Qualifications & Requirements

Must-Have

10+ years of Project Management experience in electric utility infrastructure Direct experience with: High-voltage transmission (115kV+) Substation projects (builds, upgrades, expansions) Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships and executive-level communication Strong background in: Stakeholder coordination & management Reporting & presentation delivery Experience managing cost, schedule, and risk in complex capital projects Proficiency in: Primavera P6 or MS Project Excel (advanced) PowerPoint (executive-level presentations) Preferred

Experience working with major North American utilities PMP, P.Eng, or equivalent certification Experience in regulated utility environments (California preferred) Familiarity with EVM, governance frameworks, and utility reporting standards
