About the role
JOB DESCRIPTION: $50-$55/hour - REMOTE EST Hours - 4 Month Contract Insight Global is seeking a contractor with hands-on AWS QuickSight experience to accelerate delivery of a dashboard initiative that queries a Redshift data warehouse for a transportation and logistics customer. This role is highly focused and requires someone who can quickly produce dashboards while transferring knowledge to internal team members (developers/analysts) so the capability can be sustained after the contract ends.
The customer is based out of Mississauga, however, there is flexibility for a fully remote role in Canada working EST hours.
Background/Context Our customer's primary system runs on AWS and retains 18 months of data. They replicate data into an AWS Redshift data warehouse to retain approximately three years of history and support high-volume querying for analytics. The current initiative is to build dashboards on top of this warehouse using AWS QuickSight (an out-of-the-box AWS reporting/BI tool). They have some in-house analytics experience and a developer learning the tool, but need an experienced QuickSight resource to deliver faster and provide best-practice guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and deliver AWS QuickSight dashboards that query data from Amazon Redshift.
- Partner with internal stakeholders (developers, solution architect, data/analytics team) to confirm requirements and translate them into effective dashboards.
- Provide knowledge transfer to internal staff, including:
- QuickSight fundamentals and advanced capabilities
- Best practices, “dos and don’ts,” and standards for maintainable dashboards
- Performance and optimization considerations for QuickSight + Redshift querying
- Practical guidance and coaching during build (not just documentation)
- Support a near-term proof of concept (POC) and help productionize dashboard work as required.
- Produce clear documentation and walkthroughs to enable internal ownership post-engagement.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience building dashboards in AWS QuickSight.
- Strong experience with Amazon Redshift (querying, performance considerations, working with large datasets).
- Strong understanding of analytics/reporting concepts and dashboard design best practices.
- Ability to work independently, deliver quickly, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to mentor/coach and perform structured knowledge transfer.
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience operating in AWS-centric data/analytics environments (e.g., data warehousing, BI enablement).
- Familiarity with performance tuning patterns for Redshift and dashboard responsiveness.
*We may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with the screening, assessment, or selection of potential applicants for this position.
